Whatcom County to Revisit Marijuana Regulations

Next week, the Whatcom County Planning Commission is scheduled to hold a public hearing on a revised set of recreational marijuana regulations. The hearing is set for Thursday, February 12 at 6:30 pm.

The proposed revisions include the following:

  • changes as to how setbacks from recreational marijuana facilities to residences and churches are to be measured;
  • increased landscape buffer requirements for marijuana production and processing facilities;
  • and a requirement that all indoor marijuana production and processing facilities install a mechanical ventilation system to control odor.

The Staff Report and Planning Commission agenda can be found here. Once the Planning Commission finalizes its review of the proposed regulations, the regulations will be introduced to the Whatcom County Council for the Council’s review and approval.
