Yesterday, the Skagit County Board of Commissioners adopted permanent marijuana regulations, which restrict the growing and processing of marijuana to certain natural resource and industrial lands.
Within these areas, production and processing of marijuana must occur within opaque structures. Outdoor growing of marijuana as well as growing marijuana in greenhouses is prohibited.
Retail marijuana stores can only be located in Rural Center, Rural Freeway Service, and Rural Village Commercial zones.
Further requirements for all marijuana facilities include: ventilation systems to prevent odors, restrictions on security camera placement, and notification to the local fire authority.
The new regulations heavily restrict where marijuana facilities can locate in Skagit County. Thus, anyone considering operating a marijuana business in Skagit County, should carefully review these new rules, which can be found here.
